Early life:
Bhagat Singh was a real hero, who played a great role and sacrificed his life for India’s freedom. He was born in the Lyallupur district of Punjab and belonged to a Singh family. His family also took part in various revolutionary activities supporting the independence of India. He was born on September 28, 1907. From his family, his father, grandfather and his uncle were involved in one or the other revolutionary activities. As far as education in early life is concerned, he did not attend the Khalsa High School, which was in Lahore. This was his father’s decision as he does not want his child to study in such a school, which was supported and approved by British authorities. Later, he admitted Bhagat Singh in Dayanand Anglo Vedic High School, which was a school run by Arya Samaj. When Bhagat Singh was in his teens, he started following the non-cooperation movement supported by Mahatma Gandhi. However, when he grew up, he had formed a different opinion as according to him the activities performed by Mahatma Gandhi were not sufficient to attain full freedom. When he was just 13 years old, he completely defied the British rule and he burned his school books and all Britich imported clothing. He began to follow Gandhi Ji’s path. After Gandhi’s withdrawal from the movement, he started opposing his nonviolence action and due to this he joined The Young Revolutionary Movement. This was the time when he stepped into a violent act against the British rule in India. In the year 1923, Bhagat Singh won an essay competition and this was the time when he grabbed the attention of Punjabi Hindi Sahitya Sammelan members. This was the time when he discussed about problems prevailing in Punjab at that time. Bhagat Singh attended National College in Lahore for his higher studies, but his parents wanted him to get married.  He ran away from home and joined the Naujawan Bharat Sabha. After becoming a member of this Sabha he and his fellow revolutanaries became very popular among the young generation. Another party was formed known as the Hindustan Republican Association, which was run by Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqualla Khan. Later Bhagat Singh also joined this association as he was requested by professor Vidyalankar. In the year 1928, he headed a meeting at Delhi under Kirti Kissan Party. This meeting was joined by various revolutionaries across India.
Middle Life:
Bhagat Singh was a prominent face, when we talk of Indian freedom struggle. Later in 1928, Simon Commission came to India. He visited our country, so that he could decide upon as what kind of and how much freedom to be given to the Indian citizens. However, the bad thing about this committee is that there was no Indian in that committee. This was the root cause for angry Indians and they protest against that. In the procession Lala Lajpat Rai, was lathicharged and was killed by General Scott. Bhagat Singh decided to take revenge of Lala Lajpat Rai’s death. After this, police took strong measures to arrest persons who were indulged in any wrong doings.

Meanwhile, Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt decided to throw a bomb in the Central Legislative Assembly where the ordinance meeting was held. After throwing the bomb, both of them remained in the assembly and deliberately got arrested. However, the intention while throwing the bomb was not to hurt anyone, but they wanted them to teach a lesson. Both of them got arrested and during their trial in jail, Bhagat Singh went on a hunger strike in order to protest against the inhuman treatment given to Indian prisoners. In the court he decided to use the court as a tool to showcase his protest for Indian independence.

Moreover, the cause o the hunger strike was to get newspapers for political prisoners, good quality of food, better clothing and supply of necessary toiletries. He and other members of his party were there on a 63 day hunger strike. After this long strike, the British officials had to agree on their terms and they provided all the necessary things, which he demanded.
Later Life:
There were many conspiracy theories planned against Bhagat Singh, especially the events surrounding his death. When he was young, Kartar Singh Sarabha was his mentor or all his deeds and actions. He took Lala Lajpat Rai’s death revenge by killing Scott. This showed that he was true martyr. After throwing the bomb in the assembly, he threw some leaflets, which stated it is easy to kill individuals but you cannot kill the ideas.

He engaged himself in studying for the Russian revolution. Apart from his great deeds for the cause of independence, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged on 23rd March, 1931 in Lahore jail. The three of them deliberately wanted to die and when the court gave him the sentence, they were very happy. They wanted to die because they wanted that their death would inspire the youth of our country and they will get united to fight against the British Empire.

While Bhagat Singh was in prison along with his other three friends, he wrote a letter to the Viceroy. He wanted that he should treat him as the prisoners of war thus; they should not be hanged but, should execute them by firing squad. Bhagat Singh was a true soldier who fought for his country and got hanged when he was just 23 years of age. On March 20, one of Bhagat Singh’s friends visited him in jail as he wanted him to sign on a letter for mercy, but this great man refused to sign that letter. Thus, on 23rd March he was executed and the life story of this great freedom fighter ended.
